Nixon says evidence is insufficient to prosecute judge

Jefferson City, Mo. — Attorney General Jay Nixon today said that his office does not have sufficient evidence to prosecute Greene County Circuit Judge Thomas McGuire on allegations of weapons offenses. The Attorney General's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted an independent six-week investigation after the allegations were referred by the Greene County prosecuting attorney.

Nixon said there was insufficient evidence available to Highway Patrol investigators on the allegation of intoxication and that the statute on discharging a firearm into a dwelling specifically exempts judges. Nixon also said this concludes the involvement of the Attorney General's Office in this matter.
