Jefferson City, Mo. — Attorney General Jay Nixon today filed suit against Stoneridge Entertainment Group and its president to obtain restitution for hundreds of Missourians left without ticket refunds after several country music concerts were canceled at the now-closed Stoneridge Amphitheater near Camdenton during the summer of 1993.
In the lawsuit filed in Camden County Circuit Court, Nixon charged that Steven W. Templeman continued to promote and sell tickets for concerts he knew would be canceled and then did not issue refunds to ticket holders.
The scheduled performers for the concerts, including Alan Jackson, Clint Black and Wynonna Judd, had notified Stoneridge Entertainment Group that they would not be performing. Ticket buyers were not told by Stoneridge that it did not have binding contracts with the scheduled performers, Nixon said.
“If an event is canceled, consumers have a right to expect full refunds on their tickets,” Nixon said. “In this case, Stoneridge continued to sell tickets even after it was clear to them that the big-name country stars people were paying to see wouldn't be there.”
