Boone County judge orders bogus liens filed through common-law court to be stricken from record

Jefferson City, Mo. — Circuit Court Judge Frank Conley has ordered the Boone County recorder to strike phony liens filed against three public officials through a common-law court.

Attorney General Jay Nixon took legal action last month to have the false liens removed that were filed by Don Eugene Albright against Associate Circuit Judge Jodie Capshaw Asel, Columbia Municipal Judge Leslie Schneider and Columbia City Prosecutor William McKenzie.

The documents, filed for what Nixon said were harassment and intimidation purposes, purported to be judgment liens from the One Supreme Court. Judge Conley found that the documents were not authorized to be recorded and had them stricken.

“This ruling provides direction to recorders throughout the state and sends a message that Missouri will not allow harassment and retaliation of public officials by those who consider themselves above the law,” Nixon said.
