U.S. Supreme Court denies petition of death row inmate from Jefferson County

Jefferson City, Mo. — The United States Supreme Court today denied the petition of Ralph Cecil Feltrop, who was given the death sentence for the murder of his live-in girlfriend in Jefferson County in March 1987.

Feltrop stabbed Barbara Roam in the throat, causing her to bleed to death. He dismembered her body before dumping various parts in St. Charles and Jefferson counties. Feltrop's defense at his original trial was self-defense.

"We will ask the Missouri Supreme Court to set an execution date for Feltrop so his sentence can be carried out," said Attorney General Jay Nixon, whose office represented the state.
