Jefferson City, MO — The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Missouri State Water Patrol today arrested a former jailer at the Miller County Sheriff's Department on one felony count filed by Attorney General Jay Nixon.
Timothy N. Scott, 30, of Kaiser, has been charged with one count of acceding to corruption. On March 9, Miller County jailer Trevor J. Plemmons was arrested and charged with four felony counts.
The arrests are a result of an investigation into the Miller County Sheriff's Department and the Miller County jail. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Water Patrol and the Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control are conducting the investigation. In January, a Miller County judge appointed the Attorney General's Office as special prosecutor in the matter.
The complaints against Scott and Plemmons have been filed under seal. More arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
The charge against Scott is a class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. No date for a preliminary hearing has been set. The charge against Scott is merely an accusation; as in all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven otherwise in a court of law.
