Jefferson City, MO — The Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Missouri State Water Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation today arrested a jailer at the Miller County Sheriff's Department on four felony counts filed by Attorney General Jay Nixon.
Trevor J. Plemmons, 19, of Crocker, has been charged with one count of permitting escape; one count of delivery or concealment on premises of any county jail of narcotics, liquor or prohibited articles; and two counts of acceding to corruption.
The arrest is a result of an investigation into the Miller County Sheriff's Department and the Miller County jail. The FBI, Water Patrol and the Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control are conducting the investigation. In January, a Miller County judge appointed the Attorney General's Office as special prosecutor in the matter.
The complaint against Plemmons has been filed under seal. More arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
The delivery or concealment charge against Plemmons is a class C felony, punishable by up to seven years in prison and a $5,000 fine; the other charges are all class D felonies, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine on each count.
No date for a preliminary hearing has been set. The charges against Plemmons are merely accusations; as in all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven otherwise in a court of law.
