Nixon collects $35,000 from two telemarketers, reminds Missourians of upcoming sign-up deadline

Jefferson City, Mo. — Attorney General Jay Nixon today announced that his office has obtained court orders requiring two additional telemarketers to pay $35,000 for calling Missourians on the No Call list.

The Attorney General has now collected $645,000 from 75 telemarketers since enforcement of the law began July 1, 2001.

The telemarketers are:

  • Deluxe Carpet Cleaning, which also does business as Imperial M Inc., R.6.S.-M Inc., M. America Inc., and King Marketing Inc. and whose principle place of business is in Kansas City, will pay $20,000 for making calls marketing carpet cleaning.
  • National Consumer Council, whose principle place of business is in Washington D.C., will pay $15,000 for making calls marketing credit advice and repair.

Missourians not on the No Call list need to sign up on or before Nov. 1 to be on the list which becomes effective Jan. 1, 2003. Missourians can register their home telephone numbers on the No Call list online or by calling toll-free 1-866-NOCALL1 (1-866-662-2551). Those already on the list may file complaints about telemarketing calls by downloading a complaint form or by calling the same toll-free number.
