Attorney General's News Release

January 15, 2003

Nixon collects $35,000 from two telemarketers, including $30,000 from repeat violator of No Call law

Jefferson City, Mo. — Attorney General Jay Nixon today announced that his office has obtained court orders requiring two additional telemarketers to pay $35,000 for calling Missourians on the No Call list.

The Attorney General has now collected $680,000 from 76 telemarketers since enforcement of the law began July 1, 2001. The telemarketers are:

  • Rolox, which also does business as Rolox Windows of Kansas City, will pay $30,000 for making calls marketing installation of windows and other home improvement products. Rolox previously paid $5,000 for violating the No Call list.
  • Mid-America Quality Water, whose principle place of business is in Kaiser, Mo., will pay $5,000 for making calls marketing water treatment service.

Missourians not on the No Call list can register their home telephone numbers on the list online or by calling toll-free 1-866-NOCALL1 (1-866-662-2551). More than 1.1 million residential phone numbers have been placed on the list, representing an estimated 2.8 million Missourians. Those already on the list may file complaints about telemarketing calls by downloading a complaint form or by calling the same toll-free number.
