First public hearings on MoHELA scheduled for Feb. 9 in St. Louis

Jefferson City, Mo. — Attorney General Jay Nixon announced today that his office will hold the first of a planned series of statewide public hearings on the proposed sale of $2.4 billion in assets by the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (MoHELA), and the subsequent proposed transfer of those sale proceeds to state government. The hearings are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 9, in the student center at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park from 2:30-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m.

The hearings will include the testimony of high-ranking MoHELA officials, with board chair Dr. Karen Luebbert at the afternoon session and executive director Raymond Bayer Jr. at the evening session.

St. Louis Community College at Forest Park is located along Oakland Avenue, between the Kingshighway and Hampton exits on Highway 40-64.
