Nixon presents children's charities with Hannah Montana tickets from settlements with brokers
October 31, 2007 Attorney General Nixon presented four Kansas City-area children's charities with Halloween treats on Oct. 31 -- the charities received more than 90 tickets for the sold-out Hannah Montana concert in Kansas City on Dec. 3. The tickets were donated by two brokers as part of settlements with Nixon as the Attorney General's Office looks into the practices of ticket brokers who were offering tickets to the concert at many times their face value.
Nixon made the announcement at the Thornberry Unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, one of the recipient charities. With the Attorney General were representatives of all four charities, including (from left) Gavin Steketee and Greg Smith, of the Dream Factory of Greater Kansas City; Michael Lawrence, of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City; Sheriece Moses, of the Boys & Girls Clubs; and Wendy Weber, of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
A previous agreement between Nixon and Ticketmaster, which handled ticket sales for the concert, resulted in almost 3,000 additional tickets being made available at face value for the general public to purchase for the Hannah Montana concerts in Kansas City and St. Louis.
