Nixon cracks down on price gouging in southwest Missouri after ice storms
February 15, 2007 Attorney General Nixon announced in Springfield and Joplin on Feb. 15 that his office filed six lawsuits and two assurances of voluntary compliance in a crackdown on price gouging after the January ice storms that hit southwest Missouri. The Attorney General's Office has investigated more than 400 complaints about alleged price gouging after the storms, including those regarding sale of hotel rooms, gasoline, kerosene and generators. Nixon said the lawsuits are the first round of action as his office continues its investigation.
