Jefferson City, Mo. – Attorney General Josh Hawley today announced the sentencing of Kevin T. Tillitt, 47, of Shelbina, Missouri, following his conviction for violent and sadistic sexual abuse of his daughters. Tillitt was sentenced to 135 years in prison.

Tillitt was found guilty by an Adair County jury on July 14, 2017, of four counts of statutory sodomy first degree, two counts of statutory rape first degree, and one count of child molestation first degree stemming from acts involving two children when the victims were ages 4 to 15. The victims disclosed years of sodomy and rape along with abuse with a butter knife, stuffed toys, and forced acts with a dog. Tillitt's wife, Melinda Tillitt, had already been sentenced in November 2016 to 90 years in prison for independently molesting the children, including forcing compliance by holding their heads under water.

“My office is dedicated to prosecuting those who prey upon our most vulnerable,” Hawley said. “I am grateful to law enforcement and our prosecutors for ensuring that this man will no longer harm his children. Shelby County is safer because of it.”

Tillitt was sentenced by the Honorable Russell Steele. The judge gave 20 years consecutive on the statutory counts for a total of 120 years and added the maximum 15 additional years on the molestation charges. The minimum sentence allowed by law was 55 years. The case was investigated by the Shelbina Police Department and tried by Shelby County Prosecuting Attorney Jordan Force and Assistant Attorney General Monty Platz.
